194 killed in road accidents this year

Chitradurga: As many as 194 persons have lost their lives in road accidents in the district since the beginning of the year.

In the present quarter alone 53 people have died in 52 accidents (data recorded up to October 21).

Sharing the quarterly report of the department with presspersons here on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Labhu Ram from July to September, 1,077 cases were registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Of the total 16 murder cases, the accused in 15 cases had been arrested, three cases had been solved and the charge-sheets sent to court.

Of the 39 people reported missing, 19 had been traced, he said.
