Demonstration

Members of Aditamizhar Pervai staged a demonstration in front of the Corporation office in Tirupur on Thursday, to press their charter of demands. They asked the government to take steps to give lands held by Dalits, which had been taken over by other people, back to the original landholders, as soon as possible.

“Plots spread over an extent of about 12 lakh across the State, which once belonged to Dalits, are now encroached upon,” they said. The agitators also demanded a comprehensive ban on toddy tapping as consumption of the drink could disturb peaceful life in many families.
