Seminars, workshops mark Tathva

KOZHIKODE: Day 1 of Tathva ’09, annual techno-management festival of the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), began here on Friday with seminars, competitions, workshops and exhibitions.

The highlight of the day was demonstration of 3-G technology by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Exhibitions and workshops were conducted on astrophotography, ethical hacking and web designing. An event that drew large crowds was the auto expo ‘Wheels.’

The day also featured a lecture by Prahlad Vadakkepat, Professor at the National University of Singapore, on the topic ‘Advances in robotics.’

Bernd Fitzner, Director of Geological University, Aachen University, Germany, delivered a lecture on ‘Conservation strategies of stone monuments of world heritage.’

Nobel laureate speaks

Nobel laureate Harold Kroto addressed the audience via videoconference on the topic ‘Science education for the 21st century.’

Day 2 of Tathva will feature a panel discussion on ‘Future of higher education.’ Also on display will be the robotics event ‘The league of machines’(robosoccer).
