KRISHNAGIRI: Special camps will be conducted on the second Friday of every month in all districts from November to enrol members in various labour welfare boards, said T.M. Anbarasan, State Labour Minister, here on Saturday.

These camps would be organised by the Labour Welfare Officers, trade union leaders and local body representatives.

Meeting

After a review meeting of the functioning of Labour Welfare Offices, Employment and Training and Inspector of Labour Offices in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode and Namakkal districts, the Minister told reporters that the officials had been instructed to ensure that the benefits of the government schemes reached the labourers, who were members of various welfare boards for the unorganised workers.

Labour disputes in Balco and other two companies in this region would be amicably settled, he added.

Mr. Anbarasan said that the pass percentage of the Industrial Training Institutes in the region was between 70 to 72.

It had been decided to improve it to 80.

He said that in the last three years, the DMK Government distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 168.69 crore to 6,89,243 members of welfare boards.
