Shimoga
Shimoga: A four-day CBSE National Handball Championship will be played under the auspices of the Jnanadeepa School at the Nehru Stadium here from October 25. Forty teams are expected to participate. Boys below 19 years and girls below 14, in all about 600 of them will take part. The winners and the runners-up in the zonal-level competitions will participate in this national championship, according to the Principal of the school Srikanth M. Hegde and Organising Secretary V.D.V. Prasad. Minister for Energy K.S. Eshwarappa will inaugurate the championship on October 25. Regional Officer of the CBSE Chennai N. Nagaraju and AEO (Sports) CBSE New Delhi Pushkar Varma will the chief guests. Secretary of Sri Aurobindo Foundation For Education and Jnanadeepa Vidya Samsthe V. Devendra will preside over the function. Shimoga MP B.Y. Raghavendra and Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission D.H. Shankaramurthy, who will be chief guests on the closing day, will give away the prizes.
