KHAMMAM: District Collector V. Usharani has stressed the importance of the role of Gopalamitras in the livestock service delivery system in rural areas. Inaugurating a new facility built at a cost of Rs 20 lakhs at the district veterinary poly clinic, meant for training the para veterinarians, she said that Gopalamitra programme offered by the Andhra Pradesh Livestock Development Agency (APLDA) was aimed at focusing on cattle breeding, fodder development and calf rearing by covering 100 per cent of the breedable cattle population. The need for services of the animal health workers was being felt increasing by the farmers in the villages. Some 40 candidates were being given the Gopalamitra training in the district this year. She said that good services rendered by the gopalamitras would get due recognition from both the administration as well as the beneficiary farmers. The Animal Husbandry Joint Director, Livingston and deputy director, Ganapati were among those took part.
