Dorjee Khandu to be sworn in today

Sushanta Talukdar

GUWAHATI: Dorjee Khandu is all set to be sworn in as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister for a second consecutive term on Sunday. The newly elected Congress MLAs re-elected him leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Saturday.

He called on the Governor, General (retired) J.J. Singh, to stake claim to form a new government after party president Sonia Gandhi gave her nod for his re-election.

All-India Congress Committee (AICC) observer V. Narayanasamy announced the unanimous election of Mr. Khandu. All 42 legislators were present at the meeting. AICC observers Mr. Narayanasamy, L. Falerio and Sanjay Bapna met the legislators after the hour-long CLP meeting to know their individual opinions.

Mr. Khandu has already scripted political history by getting elected unopposed from the Mukto constituency in Tawang district for the third time.
