Councillors oppose demolition drive

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: Mysore City Corporation councillors staged a dharna on D. Devaraj Urs Road on Sunday to protest against the demolition drive carried out by the corporation authorities.

The councillors expressed their ire against the officials. Nandish Preetham, a councillor, was involved in an argument with Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan and police officers who cautioned him against preventing them from discharging their duties.

On learning about the developments, Chamaraja MLA H.S. Shankaralinge Gowda arrived the spot and opposed the drive. However, he fainted during the protest. A medical team which was summoned from the K.R. Hospital attended on him and urged him to leave the place.

Meanwhile, a few councillors met Mayor Purushottam and expressed their opposition to the demolition drive.
