Workers urged to help bring out irregularities in job scheme

KOLAR: All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) State president K. Neela stressed on the need to adopt social auditing in order to prevent irregularities in the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGREGA). Such a mechanism was necessary so that the benefits of the scheme, which aims at poverty alleviation in rural areas, works, Ms. Neela said, at a legal awareness workshop for workers employed under the scheme here on Wednesday. Kolar zilla panchayat and MGREGA Implementation Committee organised the workshop.
Ms. Neela said unity was needed to expose the irregularities owing to nexus between people’s representatives, officials and vested interests, she said.
