VELLORE: The Deputy Director, Directorate of Teachers’ Training and Research, Chennai, C. Rajapandian, has appealed to the public including teachers, parents, students and representatives of non-governmental organisations to express their views and amendments on the draft syllabus for ‘samacheer kalvi’ (equitable standardised education) to be introduced by the government in schools from the next academic year, on the website of the School Education Department, www.pallikkalvi.in. He was speaking at a seminar on Equitable Standardised Education (ESE) organised by the District Institute of Education, Training and Research (DIET), Ranipet, at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Katpadi, on Tuesday. Mr. Rajapandian said participants could also send their suggestions to the Director of Teacher Education, Research and Training, College Road, Chennai-600006. G. Moorthy, Chief Educational Officer, Vellore, inaugurated the seminar. He said ESE is an excellent system introduced by the government. He requested the participants to communicate their views, corrections and modifications to the draft syllabus, which had been circulated to them. Faculty of DIET, including G. Madsudhana, lecturer, explained the syllabus for ESE. Subject teachers Janakiraman (Tamil), S. Natarajan (English), K. Mani (mathematics), V. Dhanasekaran and Raja Desingu (science) and R. Karunakaran (social science) explained the respective subject syllabi through an audio-visual presentation.
