Dhruv crashes in Ecuador, two pilots injured
Ravi Sharma
BANGALORE: A Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter manufactured by the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), crashed during a military parade in Ecuador on Tuesday injuring its two pilots. The crashed Dhruv, which was a conventional, utility version of the helicopter, is among the five helicopters sold to Ecuador in March this year. Sources at the HAL told The Hindu that the accident took place over Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport during formation-flying along with two other helicopters. The crewmembers, trained in India, managed to get out of the helicopter and were taken to hospital.
