New diploma course in intellectual property rights

National Law University, Delhi, has announced a new course: a post-graduate diploma in intellectual property rights and patent law.

The programme has been devised to cater to the increasing demand for trained (legal and technical) intellectual property professionals in industry, research and development organisations, government agencies and non-government organisations.

The course has been designed for technical and legal professionals, students aspiring for a career in patents and IP-related services.

HughesNet Global Education will be offering the programme through its classrooms.

The course would provide participants an in-depth knowledge of laws and processes related to trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications, trade secrets, patents and filing procedures.

The duration of the course is one year and classes will be held twice a week through video-conferencing.

Evaluation will be done on a continuous basis, and on successful completion of the programme the University will provide the certification.

The last date for submitting application forms is October 30.

Raffles Millennium International is offering a course in interior design. An advanced diploma and a bachelor’s degree can be pursued at the Delhi and Bangalore campuses of the institute. The application form can be purchased from the Delhi campus at 9B, Rajendra Park, Opposite Hotel Jaypee Siddharth, Pusa Road, as well as downloaded from www.raffles-millennium-international.com

International Management Institute (IMI) is hosting its three-day annual cultural and management festival starting this Thursday on its campus in the Capital’s Qutub Institutional Area.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia will inaugurate the fest -- “Kritva 2009” -- that will offer a platform for future managers to express their opinions and thoughts through different events like managem ent games, cultural events and adventure games.

The event will also provide an opportunity to students to interact with distinguished personalities from different fields.

Talking of annual fests, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, is also gearing up for its four-day festival -- “Passion’09” -- beginning this Friday.

The theme of the annual fest this year is “Hope”, a hope for a better tomorrow, a hope for resurrection of the economy.The event has already received over 1,300 entries for participation from top B-schools like Indian Institutes of Managem ent in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow and Indore. Prizes worth Rs.5 lakh are up for grabs during the event that will include activities like brainstorming sessions, business quizzes, and cultural shows.

IT trainer NIIT and IBM have entered into a global alliance to offer cutting edge training programmes in IBM technologies.Through this partnership, NIIT will offer training programmes on IBM’s career education in IBM software (CEIS) framework, customised for NIIT. The courses will be offered as modular skill-building programmes as well as specialised job-oriented diploma courses across NIIT centres within a year, said a release.
