Words of comfort: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu interacting with family members of dengue victims in Sundaragiri village of Karimnagar district on Wednesday. . KARIMNAGAR: Alleging that the State was plagued with spread of viral fevers due to negligence on the part of State government, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the State government include treatment of dengue cases under Arogyasri health insurance scheme. Mr. Naidu visited Karimnagar on Wednesday to console the bereaved family members of victims who died of dengue and other viral fevers in various parts of the district. He interacted with people suffering from fevers in Sungaragiri village of Chirugumamidi mandal, Nusthullapur of Thimmapur mandal, Karimnagar town and Kodurupaka of Boinpalli mandal. He also visited the government headquarters hospital and Chalimeda Ananda Rao Institute of Medical Sciences and inquired about the health of ailing patients. Talking to reporters later, the TDP president said his party would launch an agitation if the government fails to include treatment of dengue fever under Arogyasri. Stating that over 189 people had died of dengue in the State including 109 in Karimnagar district, he demanded payment of Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia to each of the bereaved families and to reimburse fee of the patients treated in various corporate hospitals. Expressing concern over the lethargy on the part of State government, he demanded that Chief Minister K. Rosaiah visit the Karimnagar district to see the plight of people suffering from the diseases.
