Udupi: A delegation comprising Gopal Bhandary, MLA, the former Minister K. Jayaprakash Hegde and convener of the Save National Highway 17 Committee B. Govindaraj Hegde left for New Delhi on Wednesday to pressure Union Minister for Law M. Veerappa Moily to initiate steps to repair National Highway 17, which is in a pathetic condition in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. In a press release issued here on Wednesday, the Save National Highway 17 Committee stated that a committee delegation had urging the Government to repair the road, but the requests had gone unresponded. The committee has also called a meeting of all like-minded organisations from both districts at 10.30 a.m. at Hotel Sharada International here on October 31 to decide how to intensify the protest, the release added.
