Damaged

Twenty-two thatched huts and two houses with tiled roofs were damaged in a fire that broke out at Udumalpet near Tirupur on Wednesday.

The tenants, all casual labourers, were away at the time. Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel put out the blaze after battling it for about two hours.

The cause of the fire is not immediately known.
