2 held for injuring one

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested for allegedly inflicting stab injuries on a senior executive of a private company and robbing him of his belongings in Saket here this past month.

The accused have been identified as Shambhu Saha (22) and Salaudin alias Raja (22).

Twenty-nine-year-old Rupesh was on his way home on his motorcycle in the afternoon when he stopped near a DDA park on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road to drink water. Two young men accosted him and tried to rob him of his belongings. When Rupesh resisted, they allegedly attacked him with knives, causing injuries on his wrist, back and shoulder. The two then snatched his mobile phone and wallet and fled.

Rupesh informed his family and the police and was taken to Batra Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Taking up investigation, Sub-Inspector Jitender Kashyap developed information about criminals active in the area. One of the accused was identified as Shambhu, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal. A police team was sent to Murshidabad and the accused was arrested on October 17. His accomplice Raja, a resident of Mehrauli, was later arrested at his instance.

The police claim to have seized the stolen mobile phone and the wallet and two knives allegedly used in the crime.
