HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department has decided to issue notices to the proprietor of Abhishek Car Club and the building owner for violating safety norms which led to a major fire mishap at Minister Road on Tuesday. The owners ignored even basic fire safety measures, said officials. Officials found that the shop owner used the cellar as a godown to store car accessories instead of using it for vehicle parking. Six ventilators were closed with plywood, making it difficult for fire-fighters to extinguish flames. Ventilators were closed to stop rain water from entering the premises and to restrict the entry of unauthorised persons. Firemen had to struggle to identify the origin of fire as the cellar had only a narrow entrance-cum-exit. Another reason for spread of fire is that perfume bottles burst one after other making fire-fighting operation more difficult. District Fire Officer P. Deendayal said notices would be issued to the owners of the building and shop explaining causes that led to the fire accident. Fire at SomajigudaA fire that broke out in an old building at Somajiguda on Thursday evening triggered panic among the residents and shopkeepers. However, no one was injured in the incident. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot after receiving a call around 6.40 p.m. and put-off the flames within half an hour. Firemen said reasons for the mishap were yet to be ascertained.
