Nalsar student found dead
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A final year student of National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (Nalsar) died after falling from the water tank on the academy premises here at Shamirpet on Thursday morning.
The body of 22-year-old D. Venkatrami Reddy, son of an IAS officer of Chandigarh cadre, D.P. Reddy, was found around 8.30 a.m. by the co-students. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide but said that no suicide note was found.
The student hailing from Hyderabad was residing in the Nalsar hostel and was pursuing five-year degree programme in law. “After speaking to the co-students and the academic staff, we learnt that he was reportedly in depression about his performance in recently-completed exams,” Shamirpet Inspector, P. Ramakanth Rao, told The Hindu over phone.
The police are also verifying reports that problems in personal life drove the student to resort to the extreme step. A case of suspicious death under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered. The body was handed over to his family members after performing autopsy at the Gandhi Hospital morgue.
