Airport golf club slated for commissioning in December

A Correspondent

Nedumbassery: The ambitious non-aviation project of the Cochin airport company, CIAL Golf and Country Club, is slated to be commissioned in December.

The company has said that the benefits under its early bird scheme in the club for individual members will be closed by October 31 and that for corporate members one month later. It started inviting applications from individuals and corporates offering an early bird membership scheme for the first 200 members in July.

Scheme

Under the scheme, the fee for an individual member was fixed at Rs 2 lakh and for the corporate members Rs 6 lakh. The individual membership is transferable in the sixth and 10th year subject to the company’s rules and regulations whereas the corporate memberships for two designated members possess the flexibility of substitution during the membership tenure.

The general membership conditions stipulate that all members have to pay subscription and maintenance charges with all taxes. Meanwhile, airport officials have hinted at the possibility of raising the total number of membership which has been set at present at 900.

“The great response to both the individual and corporate memberships is obviously buoying up the company to extend the upper ceiling” said one official. CIAL is in the final stages of developing the first phase comprising nine holes and a driving range in addition to a mini club house with facilities including a party-cum-conference hall and bowling green. It is scheduled to complete the work on the second phase covering the remaining nine holes along with a permanent practice range and a full fledged club house by 2013-14.
