Bus attached

KULITHALAI: The Kulithalai Court officials ordered attachment of a TNSTC bus here for non-payment of compensation to the kin of an accident victim.

Kalyani, wife of Palanivel who was killed in a road accident on March 3, 2007 involving a TNSTC bus, had filed a non-compliance petition seeking compensation from the TNSTC.

She had moved the Kulithalai court, which had directed the TNSTC to pay a compensation of Rs. 5.97 lakh to her on July 31, 2008. Since the authorities did not pay any compensation, on October 14 last, Judge Jawahar had ordered the TNSTC to pay Rs. 6.87 lakh with interest. He had warned that nonpayment would lead to attachment of bus.

Following that, a TNSTC bus going from Musiri to Pazhaya Jeyamkondam was attached at Kulithalai Bus stand and taken away to the court.
