Village nurses to be rewarded

KARUR: Best performing Village Health Nurses (VHN) in Karur district would be suitably rewarded for covering the maximum patients under the Kalaignar’s Health Insurance Scheme for life-saving treatment, Collector J. Uma Maheswari said.
Inaugurating a district level workshop on the scheme, Dr. Maheswari said that the insurance scheme was a remarkable gift and a boon to the underprivileged. The rural health sector was doing a yeoman service in delivering healthcare to the most needy.
Those whose annual income did not exceed Rs. 72,000 and all those who have been enrolled as members, beneficiaries of various welfare boards were eligible for benefits under the scheme.
There is no great service than that of saving lives. The VHNs were doing just that and they form the link between the patient and their medicare monitoring the progress and well being of the patient.
Every VHN should to enlist a beneficiary under the scheme.
Those who cover the maximum patients in the district would be rewarded suitably, she said.
