Protest at Corporation meeting in Tirupur
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: Noisy scenes marred the proceedings at the Corporation council meeting held on Thursday evening after councillors of various parties protested against the ‘lethargic administration.’
P. R. Natarajan (Communist party of India) alleged that excess usage charges were levied from the public for using the pay and use toilet at the Old Bus Stand.
“Though only Re. 1 can be levied from the public, the lease operators are charging fees higher than the prescribed rates,” he pointed out.
Walkout
Communist Party of India (Marxist) councillors staged a walkout from the meeting stating that Corporation administration had been ‘uncaring’ on preventive health care activities.
“Though viral fever is spreading in the city, no concerted efforts have been made to control the problem,” they said.
