Plantation drive launched

NEW DELHI: To commemorate the launch of Queen’s Baton Relay in London for the upcoming Commonwealth Games here, Delhi Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary P.K. Tripathi on Friday launched a plantation drive at Aya Nagar, where 20,000 saplings would be planted in over 40 acre. Besides Aya Nagar, similar drives were also launched simultaneously at Malikpur and Daurala.
In all, 60,000 saplings would be planted over 120 acres. Environment Secretary Dharmendra, Commonwealth Games Organising Committee officials and a large number of school children were also present at the plantation ceremony.
The Delhi Government has launched the Games forestation drive through a “simultaneous tree planting” exercise in London.
