BANGALORE: The first-ever TED conference in India has received overwhelming response from attendees, speakers, fellows and sponsors. TEDIndia, to be held between November 4 and 7, on the now iconic Infosys campus in Mysore, has 99 TED fellows participating, the largest ever in the history of TED. TED fellows are young individuals who have demonstrated remarkable achievement in their respective fields. Speakers expected at TEDIndia include Tony Hsieh, CEO, Zappos.com; Eve Ensler, playwright and activist and Jib Ellison, sustainability expert, to name a few. Indian thought leaders speaking at the conference include Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, management guru C.K. Prahalad, director Shekhar Kapur, Yogi Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, film actor Abhay Deol and mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik, among others. Chris Anderson, TED curator and host, who was visiting India, said: “I am impressed with the diversity and the incredible stories that the speakers and attendees are bringing to TEDIndia. The response has surpassed our expectations.” He also mentioned that TED open translation project, launched in May this year, is a major step in trying to make TEDTalks and ideas accessible to a wider audience. TEDTalks are now available in several Indian languages. There has been a great upsurge in viewership from India on www.ted.com
