VILLUPURAM: If any hospital listed under the Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatment collects fees for pre-surgery examination or commits any omission in performing surgery, it will be derecognised, Collector R. Palanisamy told reporters here recently. Besides blacklisting the hospital, penal action would be initiated. Complaints could be registered by calling toll-free number 1070 or through cell phones 94450 30702 (Captain Kamatchi) or 94450 30722 (Dr. Vinay). Complaints could also be registered on www.startanhins.in. A total of 2,93,282 families had registered under the scheme and 34,000 smart cards distributed so far in the district, Mr. Palanisamy said. The following hospitals in Villupuram have been notified under the scheme: Ashwin Hospital, E.S.Hospital, Maragatham Hospital, Hari Nursing Home and Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital. Patients can also get treatment in the hospital of their choice either in Chennai or elsewhere. With a view to reaching the message to every household, it was proposed to give an overview of the scheme at school prayer meetings on Mondays so that students could pass on the message to their parents, Mr. Palanisamy said.
