K.Balchand
NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted the people on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti and called upon them to follow his path to strengthen unity and goodwill.
The President underlined the universal message of harmony, unity and human concord in Guru Nanak’s teachings and said it was ever relevant and eternal. “Let us on this day resolve to follow the path laid down by him and work to strengthen the bonds of unity and mutual goodwill among people,” the President said.
The Prime Minister said Guru Nanak’s message of peace and unity was very relevant in today’s world.
“A society without discrimination and distinction — the vision of Guru Nanakji — is the vision towards which we should strive,” Dr. Singh said.
Vice President M. Hamid Ansari in his greetings described Guru Nanak as the apostle of universal love, piety and spiritual faith. “His divine teachings guide us on the path of unity.”
