Shyam Steel to begin retail network in State

Kochi: Shyam Steel Industries Ltd., manufacturer in the steel sector in eastern India, has announced its market expansion into the State.

Govind Beriwal, director, Shyam Steel Industries Ltd. told presspersons here recently that Shyam Steel TMT Re-Bars (8mm-36 mm) would be available to retail consumers in the State. Nectar Enterprise of Kochi will be the company representative in the State.

Shyam Steel Industries Ltd. is continuously expanding its market and making its presence felt across the country. “Kerala is one of the most potential markets of India for our products, and initiatives had been taken for some time now to start retail operations here,” Mr. Beriwal said. Till the last financial year, the company had a network of 12 branches across the country.

The company is confident of touching monthly sales of 2,000-3,000 tonnes a month in the Kerala market, which translates to nearly Rs.100 crore a year at today’s market prices.

The company owns manufacturing facilities in West Bengal and Orissa. Certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, its products are used in infrastructure projects and individual constructions throughout the country.

The group plans to start a 1.1 MTPA plant at Purulia, West Bengal and a 2 MT beneficiation plant in Orissa, for which clearance has been obtained from IDICOL.

Shyam Steel’s products have a presence in national projects such as Nibedita and Vidyasagar bridges (West Bengal), KG Basin (Andhra Pradesh), Panipat Elevated Expressway (Haryana), Hyderabad International Airport (Andhra Pradesh), Infosys campuses at Pune, Chandigarh and Bhubaneswar, REL’s Yamunagar Power Plant (Gujarat), Tau Devilal Power Plant (Haryana), Guwahati Games Village (Assam) and Ranchi Sports Complex (Jharkhand).
