Flat owners to be counselled on steps to get an NOC from the Fire Services Department HYDERABAD: The GHMC has decided to concentrate on assessing pending files of multi-storied buildings (commercial & residential) under the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) at the head office. This was after the scheduled circle wise ‘melas’ to clear applications had to be put on hold once the poll notification was issued. Beginning Wednesday, senior officials will be inspecting each and every multi-storied building to counsel flat owners on the steps to be taken to get an ‘no objection certificate’ from the Fire Services Department by installing the required fire safety equipment. Norms relaxedThere are about 1,780 residential buildings which are above 18 metres in height (or more than five floors) which require clearance from the fire safety angle and also from the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The government has already relaxed norms for such buildings having a penthouse so that flat owners below can get their proceedings certificates. Commercial complexesWhile it is counselling for residential buildings, for commercial complexes above 15 metres notices are being issued to respond if not straightaway take up fire safety measures within 15 days. “We have decided to write to the Fire and Emergency Services Department to initiate sealing of the premises if we do not get a proper response from the owners of commercial complexes,” explained Chief City Planner B. Purushothama Reddy. 445 complexesThere are 445 commercial complexes which have applied for regularisation under BPS with the highest number in the East Zone – 235 in areas of Uppal, Kapra, L.B.Nagar and others followed by Central Zone – 156 in areas of Mehdipatnam, Himayatnagar, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, etc. Officials will be inspecting multi-storied buildings in East and South Zones (old city and Rajenderanagar) on November 4, Central Zone on November 5, West Zone (Serilingampally, Patancheru, Kukatpally, etc) on November 6 and North Zone (Qutbullapur, Alwal, Malkajgiri and Secunderabad) on November 7.
