Woman SI arrested

CHENNAI: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption arrested a woman Sub-Inspector of Police on charges of taking bribe from a suspect here on Monday.
According to police sources, Veronica (52) of MKB Nagar had lodged a complaint against her husband Josephraj (55) following a family problem.
The MKB Nagar All Woman Police Station Sub-Inspector Gunavathi (49) allegedly demanded Rs.1,500 as bribe from Josephraj for not registering a case against him.
Based on a complaint lodged by him, a DVAC team laid a trap and arrested Gunavathi soon after she took the bribe from the complainant, the sources added.
