Light showers

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Several parts of the city received intermittent showers on Monday evening.

While the Meteorological department’s observatory in Nungambakkam recorded a rainfall of 5.5 mm between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., its facility in Meenambakkam received only trace rainfall.

Officials of the Meteorological Department said the trough of low pressure over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast led to the rainfall in the city.

The maximum temperature in Nungambakkam on Monday was 32.4 degree Celsius, two degree Celsius above the average temperature. The city would receive shower or thundershowers in some areas for the next two days, the officials added.
