ARAHATTI (Dharwad District): Before leaving for Delhi on Wednesday evening to hold talks with the Bharatiya Janata Party central leaders on the political crisis, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa sent out a stern message to the dissident camp, controlled by the Ministers from Bellary, and sought to clarify on Speaker Jagadish Shettar not getting a ministerial berth. “I should not sit in the Chief Minister’s chair if they [Reddy brothers] cannot be kept in check,” Mr. Yeddyurappa remarked when asked by presspersons if he would keep the Ministers from Bellary — G. Karunakara Reddy, G. Janardhana Reddy and B. Sriramulu — under check. “As a representative of six crore people of the State, there are several ways of controlling them. If they cannot be controlled, I should not sit in the Chief Minister’s chair,” he said after laying the foundation stone for relocating the flood-hit Arahatti and Gudisagar villages in Navalgund taluk of Dharwad district. First stepMr. Yeddyurappa said his first step towards keeping the Bellary Ministers under check would be to organise a public meeting in Mr. Shettar’s hometown of Hubli on November 7, after getting the consent of the party high command to clear the confusion in the people’s minds regarding the present crisis.
