Crisis in the BJP will blow over,

says Minister

Bangalore: With the dissident fire yet to be doused in the State BJP, Minister for Labour B.N. Bache Gowda on Wednesday opposed the BJP’s alliance with the Janata Dal (S) if there was a split among the BJP legislators.

Addressing presspersons here, he said: “I am against the tie-up with the JD (S).”

Mr. Bache Gowda quit the JD (S) and joined the BJP on the eve of Assembly elections.

He said that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa was summoned to the national capital by the party leadership to bring an end to the political crisis in the wake of the revolt by the Reddy brothers. The crisis in the BJP would blow over in a few days, he said.

Asked if the party’s central leaders were helpless in taking a firm decision against the Reddy brothers, he said that dissidence was common in all parties. The Congress had not been able to form the government in Maharashtra owing to the demands of the NCP of Sharad Pawar, the Minister said.

Revanna’s stand

Meanwhile, Janata Dal (S) Legislature Party leader H.D. Revanna said that the circumstances were not ideal for the party to extend support to the BJP. Declining to divulge details about a possible tie-up in the event of a split in the BJP, he said former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda would decide on such matters.
