NRI’s stolen items recovered

NEW DELHI: Some electronic items and travel documents of a non-resident Indian allegedly stolen by an auto-rickshaw driver have been recovered.

Ashok Bhalla, a resident of London, was on his way to Sukhdev Vihar from the Nizamuddin bus depot in an auto-rickshaw on October 18 when the auto-driver drove away with his belongings. Mr. Bhalla got down to buy some sweets at a shop and when he returned the auto-driver had disappeared.

Mr. Bhalla could recall the last four digits of the auto-rickshaw and reported the matter to the police.

Taking up investigation, the police identified the accused as Rajender and located his address. The house was found locked. A team was then sent to his native place in Agra.

A stolen laptop, a digital camera, two mobile phones, foreign currency and a passport were allegedly recovered from his house. The auto-driver is absconding.
