SN Colleges post wins

Sasthamcotta: SN College (Punalur) and and SN College (Cherthala) recorded wins in the Kerala University inter-collegiate cricket tournament at the DB College ground on Thursday.

SN College (Punalur) defeated Younus College of Engineering (Kollam) by seven wickets while SN College (Cherthala)) scored a 66-run win over St. Stephen’s College (Pathanampuram).

The scores: SN College, Cherthala 151 for seven in 20 overs (Misabh 43) bt St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram 85 in 13 overs (Amal Kumar four for seven); Younus College of Engineering, Kollam 58 in 13 overs (S.Sudhi five for 14) lost to SN College, Punalur 59 for thee in eight overs.

University College in quarterfinals

University College (Thiruvananthapuram) blanked Mar Thoma College (Thiruvalla) 4-0 to enter the quarterfinals of the SAI-LNCPE all-India inter-collegiate football tournament at the LNCPE football ground (Thiruvananthapuram) on Thursday. Suresh (25th), Visakh (41st), Manu (58th) and Stepin Peter (63rd) scored.

In another pre-quarterfinal match, SN College (Kannur) withstood a spirited fight back from MG College (Thiruvananthapuram) to squeeze out a 4-3 win.

SN College led 3-0 through goals from Jamsheer (2nd), Vipin (18th) and Vineeth (26). However, Shahir started the MG revival with a goal in the 41st minute. Sujith made it 3-2 in the 49th minute.

However, Vineeth scored again for SN College in the 50th minute to increase the lead before Sujith scored his second goal of the match in the 65th minute.

St. Xavier’s College (Thumba) also entered the quarterfinals beating Baselius College (Kottayam) 4-1 via tie-breaker. Both teams were level 1-1 at regular time. Michael put St. Xavier’s ahead in the 5th minute but Chicko James cancelled out the lead in the 22nd minute.
