Indian Bank opened its campaign with a 77-53 win over host Nilgiris District Basketball Association, and later followed it up with a 75-47 win over Tech City Basketball Club (Karur). Irani Rolling Trophy at the JSS grounds on Friday. Jaison Jaiprakash came up with a fine knock of 77 and a three-wicket haul for The Laidlaw but his all-round show went in vain as Good Shepherd pulled off a thrilling win in the final over. Earlier, P. Stanislaus (six for 21) bowled Stanes HSS to a comfortable four-wicket win over JSS Public School. The scores (semifinals): The Laidlaw Memorial School 178 for six in 35 overs (Jaison Jaiprakash 77, Janak Mandana 34) lost to Good Shepherd IS 178 for six in 34.5 overs (Sahil Sangwan 40, Raj Patel 40, Dhruv Dhave 37 not out, Jeff P. George three for 31, Jaison Jaiprakash three for 34); JSS Public School 128 (V. Sukesh 46 not out, P. Stanislaus six for 21, R. Vivek three for 31) lost to Stanes HSS 130 for six in 29.4 overs (Mohammed Noorullah 36 not out; Solomon Prabhu 35, K. Akshay three for 28). BAT TrophyAt Coimbatore, Christ the King Polytechnic College will host the eighth annual BAT Trophy football tournament at its grounds from December 2 to 5. The tournament has been split into two categories – high and higher secondary schoolboys and polytechnics and industrial training institutes. The last date for receipt of entries is November 9.
