School exhibits ancient scientific advancement

KARIMNAGAR: The students of Paramita High School at Mankammathota here displayed a model on how in the ancient days, airplanes were stopped mid-air when there was place for landing in the forests and water.

Using the ancient ‘Tripura Vimanam’ concept, the students explained about the landing of an airplane in the air by using the light-year technology. They suggested that similar kind of technology could be used for all helicopters to avoid crashes during the emergencies like the Army helicopters. The recent tragedy at Pavuralagutta comes to mind.

During Eureka-2009, the science exhibition, inaugurated by Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania on Friday, the students presented various working models using both the science and Vedas and ancient scriptures.

There was a model on how the rishis performed yagnas without causing environmental pollution through ‘Thiryak patna yanthram’ and through ‘Bindu sarassu’.

They explained about how the water was purified by using medicinal plants during those days. An exhibit explained the availability of 14 planets in the universe.

These and many other concepts on various subjects including mathematics and sciences captivated the visitors at Eureka-2009.

Even tiny tots showcased their talent in the magic vessel display. A fourth class student Subhamsh explained about magic vessel wherein only the water was boiling while the container remained cool all through.

Some other models such as voice signal robot, solar water heater also took the visitors by surprise.

The students accorded priority to science-based subjects like making paracetamol tablet, pain balm, acetylene gas, washing powder, conducting blood grouping and educating about the importance of haemoglobin in the blood.

The Kindergarten students also won appreciation for their models on house, family structure. A total of over 500 exhibits were displayed.

School chairman E. Prasada Rao said that the exhibition would be open on Saturday and they would give away prizes to the best exhibit.
