The writer is in need of money for kidney transplantation

BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa Cine Artistes’ Association (OCAA) has come forward to generate funds for the treatment of lyricist of Oriya film industry Nizam.

Mr. Nizam, who stays at Cuttack, is in dire need of at least Rs. 8 lakh for kidney transplantation that would be conducted at a hospital in Hyderabad soon, according to OCAA secretary Kuna Tripathy.

He will leave for Hyderabad on Sunday and his wife Gulshan will donate a kidney for the transplantation.

A delegation of the association, comprising actor Jayaram Samal, Sritam Das, Snigdha Mohanty and Kuna Tripathy, met the ailing writer at his residence and handed over a cheque of Rs.25,000 for his treatment.

An exclusive cultural evening will be staged in the capital soon to generate funds for Mr. Nizam’s treatment and OCCA members will perform in it.

Meanwhile, several film personalities have appealed to the government, corporate houses and the public to contribute towards Mr. Nizam’s treatment.
