Corporation told to compensate senior citizen
Special Correspondent
Thiruvananthapuram: Ombudsman for Local Self Government Institutions M.R. Hariharan Nair has directed the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation to give compensation to a senior citizen who was injured after he slipped and fell on the marble tiles installed in the Gandhi Park at East Fort here.
In an order issued on March 3 this year, the Ombudsman had asked the Mayor to compensate R. Purushothaman, 77, for the treatment expenses. A statement filed by the Corporation Secretary on November 4 said a decision on the matter would be taken after seeking legal advice. The Ombudsman, in his order on Friday, said the question of compensation for the 77-year-old petitioner could not be delayed any further.
The Corporation Secretary was directed to take a decision on the matter within two months.
