Akash stars in CK Blues’ big win

HYDERABAD: Century by Akash Kulkarni (114) helped CK Blues record a 61-run win over Navjeevan Friends in the HCA Schools League cricket match here on Saturday.

The scores: A-Institution (one-day) league: HMT Bearings 155 for four lost to APSRTC 156 for seven (Manoj 49, Sri Hari six for 43).

FCI 160 (Sunil Singh 45, Srikanth 50, Musharaf four for 30) lost to Indian Airlines 161 for one (Charan Reddy 75, Jitender 58 not out).

Schools league: CK Blues 312 for seven (A. Ranjit Kumar 30, Akash Kulkarni 114, D. Varun Raj 35, Sumeeth Joshi three for 52, Sai Chandra Teja four for 34) bt Navjeevan Friends 251 (Srikanth Reddy 90, Ajazuddin 37, Varun Raj five for 13, Dinesh three for 11). C-Division one-day league: Starlets 180 (Imran 50, Praveen 42, Raja Sekhar four for 32, Mahinder five for 37) lost to Universal 181 for five (Md. Saddam Hussain 50).

D-Division one-day league: Time 247 for nine (Ibrahim 69, Hyder Ali Khan 65) bt Satyam Colts 199 for nine (Monish Menon 43, S. Raju 40, M. A. Haleem Sufiyan five for 33).

Varun clinches title

C. Varun defeated Riyank Varma 8-7(4) in the boys under-14 final of the Sun-Jay Academy tennis tournament organised to raise funds for flood victims in the State here.

In the girls final, B. Raksha defeated S. Nidhi 8-3 to clinch the title.

Avanthi triumphs

Avanthi College won the Osmania University inter-college korfball tournament defeating Aurora College 10-4 here.

For the winners, Vijay Singh (4), Ganesh (3,) Praveen Singh (2) and Anil (1) were the scorers while Neha (2), Vijay (1) and Anwar (1) scored for the losers.

AV College settled for third place defeating Bhavan’s College 9-4.

AC, SCR win titles

Artillery Centre men and South Central Railway women won the titles in the GHMC annual basketball tournament at Victory Playground here.

The scores: Finals: Men: Artillery Centre 84 (Gopal Ram 34, Veayudan 14) bt Deccan Chronicle 73 (Amruth Raj 24, Maliah 14).

Women: SCR 51 (Geeta 14, Kawajeet 11, Neetu 10) bt Osmania University ‘A’ 25 (Neha 13).

AP rowing team

Andhra Pradesh team to take part in the 30th Junior National rowing championship to be held in Bangalore from November 10 to was announced here.

Inter-school chess
