The festival to begin on November 10 and continue for a week

BERHAMPUR: Preparations are in the final stage for the second State-level drama festival to be held in the city from November 10.

The non-competitive drama festival is an effort to showcase the top amateur theatre groups of the State for the audience of the city. It is being organised by the ‘Orissa Natak Samaroh Samity’ of the city. President of the organisation, Anil Kumar Patra, said the drama festival would be a week-long affair. The venue of the drama festival would be the Ganjam Kala Parishad auditorium.

Interact programme

During the festival, the audience would also get a chance to interact with prominent stage and cine personalities of the State like Debu Bose, Haren Sahu, Asit Pati, Salil Mitra, Hara Barik etc. These dignitaries would attend the meeting that would precede the enactment of plays every evening.

Major amateur theatre groups from different parts of the State are taking part in the drama festival.

The participants include ‘Ka Kha Ga of Damanjodi in Koraput district, ‘Kala Parishad’ of Dhenkanal, ‘Tulasi Cultural Association’ of Kendrapara, ‘Ame’ of Baripada and Sampark of Rourkela.

Veteran theatre activist Raju Padhi said as the theatre groups originate from different cultural and economic regions of the State, the audience would get to see a wide range variety of plays during the festival.

The festival would enable the budding stage activists of the city to learn from the new experimentations being tried on stage by the troupes taking part in the festival.
