Kakinada: Indian Army which is the world’s second largest one after China’s, is considered one of the best and it was in need of ‘continuous flow of manpower’ to defend the country against all sorts of enemies. Soldiers of Indian Army were imparted a multifaceted training to tackle a variety of offensives. Besides, three generations of a soldier were taken care of apart from paying him decent salary. The youth have therefore no reason to be skeptical about a stint in the Army, which offers them rare opportunity to serve the motherland, said Brigadier Pankaj Sinha, Deputy Director General (Recruiting) of Indian Army. Speaking to media persons at JNTU grounds here where Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Visakhapatnam is holding a recruitment rally, on Saturday, Brig. Sinha said the Indian Army’s manpower strength (approximately 1.3 million) was almost on par with that of the Railways, which has of late pegged its work force at a lower level. ARO (Visakhapatnam) Director Col. Tushar Roy said about 25,000 turned up for selections in the recruitment rally being held in Kakinada. Of them some 1,200 were shortlisted for further tests, he said.
