NIT-C team wins debate

Kozhikode: The National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) team represented by Ambily Mary Thomas and A.V. Venugopal emerged winners in the intercollegiate debate organised by the Literary and Debating Club of NIT-C in association with Union Bank of India and Penguin Books on the NIT-C campus here on Saturday.

Six teams of two members from different colleges took part in the event, which was held in English.

‘Technology is pioneering a brighter future in accordance with its perpetuator’s plans’ was the topic of the debate.

N.K. Radhika from Government Engineering College Kozhikode became the best speaker for the motion while A.V .Venugopal of NIT-C bagged the honour for the best speaker against the motion.

The English debate was followed by Malayalam debate on “Was it a good idea to ban Private practice for Government Doctors.” Five teams took part in the debate. NIT-C bagged the first prize in the event.

An interactive session with author Ira Trivedi was also held as part of the programme. The author gave a short speech and answered questions from students.
