Mayor hospitalised, Council meet cancelled

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Kakinada Mayor K. Saroja was admitted to Apollo Hospital here after she fell ill during the Municipal Council meeting on Saturday.

She suffered severe pain in the head while talking to the members just before the agenda was taken up for discussion.

Some of the corporators rushed her to the hospital as she was writhing in pain and unable to speak.

Her condition is out of danger, according to the hospital sources.

Upon the advise of a consultant neuro-physician at Apollo, Ms. Saroja underwent MRI and C.T scan. She was said to be suffering from migraine.

She was on fasting for the last two weeks and also had low blood pressure.

Ms. Saroja is currently on medication and will be staying in the hospital on Sunday also when she would be tested again.

She would be discharged later depending on how she responds to treatment, a hospital representative told The Hindu.

The council meeting was cancelled as the Mayor was indisposed.
