BHUBANESWAR: Swine flu scare gripped Sundargarh district on Saturday with two samples drawn from students of Nabadaya Vidyalaya testing positive of H1N1 virus. About 20 students of Nabadaya Vidyalaya at Lefripada were suffering from fever. Subsequently, samples were sent to the Regional Medical Research Centre here for testing. After samples were found to be positive, now students of three schools around Sundargarh headquarters town were suspected be carrying H1N1 virus. This made officials of health administration huddle in a meeting to deal the emergency as swine flu was slowly spreading in rural pockets. During the day, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also chaired a review meeting to take stock of the situation. State government has decided to constitute 105 rapid response teams (RRTs) comprising doctors and paramedical staff to deal with the situation. Three State-level RRTs would also function to coordinate and provide necessary expertise to district level teams. Revenue divisional commissioners, district collectors and chief district medical officers have been asked to stay vigilant and take appropriate steps at their end to prevent spread of swine flu further to rural region.
