Spare no effort in reaching out to voters, party nominees told HYDERABAD: Launching its campaign for the coming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections here on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting of all its nominees and asked them to spare no effort in reaching out the voters. Several senior party leaders including Bangaru Laxman, Bandaru Dattatreya, N. Indrasena Reddy and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao gave broad outline for the campaign and came up with issues that could guide the candidates in their campaign. In his address, Mr. Bangaru Laxman attributed the growth of MIM as a force in the city to the tacit support of the Congress. Dictating terms“For political gains, the Congress always joined hands with such parties and helped them grow,” he said adding that the MIM was now dictating decisions such as transfer of police personnel including the City Commissioner. Mr. Dattatreya said all the other parties faced discontent from aspirants over tickets and only BJP handled matters in a disciplined manner. “Hyderabad is home to different cultures and people from all over the country came settled here. The city is mini India and only BJP can do justice to their aspirations,” he said. Addressing the party candidates, Indrasena Reddy told them to tap those who stayed back at home on the day of voting. “They are the ones without any party affiliations. We need to identify them and tap their votes,” he suggested. Other leaders including G. Kishen Reddy also addressed the gathering.
