JK Paper Mills celebrates its founder’s anniversary

The company plans massive expansion with a capital outlay of Rs. 1,500 crores

KORAPUT: Adherence to ethical practices over the years by companies like ‘JK group of companies’ has brought sustainable development for the firms as well as the country, Ajit Kumar Tripathy, State Election Commissioner, said at Jaykaypur in Rayagada on Sunday.

He was speaking at a meeting held by JK Paper Mills to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of its founder Lala Kamlapat Singhania. While there were many companies that had come and gone from Orissa after utilising the resources and incentives provided by the State, JK Paper Mills had been helpful to the region by carrying out different activities for the common people of the region under its corporate social responsibility, he said.

Sustainable growth

However for meeting the requirement of global standards with a sustainable growth, the company had to equip itself with modern technologies, he added.

M.C. Goel, Executive vice-president (works) of the company, while briefing the achievement of the group in maintaining its work for realising the dreams and aspirations of its founder, said that the company was going ahead with a massive expansion plan at JK Paper Mills with a capital outlay of Rs.1,500 crores and thereby doubling the company’s capacity to 2.5 lakh MT per annum.

Bags several awards

While highlighting the concern of the company for the betterment of the people living in and around the company , M. Ramesh Kumar, vice-president (P&A), said that the company received several awards like ‘National Ground Water Augmentation Award’ and ‘Certificate of Appreciation for Excellence in Energy Management’ by Bureau of Energy, Government of India, appreciating the efforts of the company in resource conservation in pulp & paper sector in 2008 and it was committed to maintain its commitment for the safety and promotion of the resources.

As a part of the practice of the company, 44 employees of the company, who had served more than 25 years, were honoured with ‘Long Service Awards’ by the chief guest.
