TAMBARAM: A 58-year-old man was electrocuted in Nanmangalam near Tambaram on Saturday. Pallikaranai police said N. Kannan of Ponniamman Koil Street in Nanmangalam was running a dry-cleaning shop in Adambakkam. Owing to rains, the shop was closed on Saturday. Two of his employees were living in a street nearby and on Saturday morning, Kannan left his house to call on them. While climbing the stairs leading to the house of his employees on the first floor, he came into contact with a live wire and was electrocuted. Pallikaranai police are making further investigations. Held for robberiesThree youths — D. Srinivasan (25), R. Anand (21) and M. Jagadeesan (21) — were arrested by police for their involvement in several robberies in Madhavaram district. A press release from the Chennai Suburban Police said a special crime team was formed to investigate several cases of robberies reported in Madhavaram district. On Friday evening, K. Ramu, a resident of Madhavaram, was returning home from work when the three youths intercepted him, threatened him at knifepoint and fled after snatching Rs.500 cash and a mobile phone at the Manjambakkam intersection. Passers-by noticed the incident and pursued the suspects. Meanwhile, a police patrol team received information about the incident and reached the spot and managed to nab the youths with the help of the public, the press release said.
