In Pirattiyur (West), there are plenty of poisonous insects. When they bite, blisters and wounds are formed which cause irritation and pain. People dwelling in this area and hostel students are badly affected. I request the corporation authorities to solve this problem through better pest control management. X. Rosario Rajkumar Viswas Nagar More needs to be doneThis refers to the report by Syed Muthahar Saqaf , ‘Now, Srirangam Railway station is more passenger-friendly’ in November 1 issue of The Hindu. It is true the Railway authorities, especially the Tiruchi division of Southern Railways, have created various facilities besides constructing a subway for the benefit of the commuters and other residents of Srirangam. The Railway took a long period for raising the level of platforms. There should be a counter next to the two reservation counters. The counter used for the issue of daily tickets should be shifted to the last counter which is closed. This will enable the commuters to make necessary enquiries at the enquiry counter without disturbing the employees at the reservation counters and get reservation/cancellation application forms. P.S.Subrahmanian Srirangam MeaninglessRecently, I happened to travel from Tiruchi to Madurai by a State Corporation bus. Even though buses display catchy words like TSS, LSS, 1 to 5, point to point, express and so on, they almost stop at all places including many halts within a small town. They go in and out of all the towns without utilising the bypass. The very purpose of four-laning and fast travel is defeated and the running time is same as before. I request the authorities to introduce real point-to-point buses for long distance travellers at frequent intervals with extra charge for the speedy journey. D.Saminathan Kalyanasundar Nagar RC books inconvenientEarlier, motor vehicle registration certificates (RC) were issued as small booklets. But, now it is given in an inconvenient size. The RC is to be carried along with the vehicle for verification by police at any time. Hence, the certificate may be given in a user-friendly format. The possibility of restoring to the earlier format may also be explored. Or the important details of the RC may be printed in a small card which can be given additionally. It also must be ensured that the details in the certificate are readable and be printed in the correct location because this certificate is to be preserved throughout the life time of the motor vehicle. P.K. Raman, Ayyappa Nagar Parking becomes a disturbanceWhen there is a ban by the police on parking of two- and four-wheelers and other vehicles along Thillai Nagar Main Road it is also not right and proper for the traffic police to ask vehicle owners to park on cut roads. There are a number of signboards placed at Thillai Nagar asking vehicle owners to park on the cut roads , even during nights on a regular basis. As a result, residents and people are not able to move out freely. Even patients and doctor’s visiting their hospitals are badly hit. Residents on the cut roads cannot go in and out of their houses due to irregular parking of vehicles in front of their houses. During morning and evening rush hours, there is a huge rush with several autos, two-wheelers, four-wheelers and tempos vying with each other to get ample parking space on the cut roads. David Peniel Vanapatarai Street No announcements in Tiruchi tooThis refers to a letter on November 3 in The Hindu about no train announcements at Tirunelveli Junction. This problem is not unique to Tirunelveli. I have faced worse occasions in Tiruchi. T.K Ramachandran Bhelpur No road lightsThis is about the pathetic condition of RPF Road, an arterial road running for about 1.5 km in Tiruchi. On both sides, thorny and poisonous bushes have grown. From Crescent Nagar to K K Nagar, there are several residential localities. At Junction points, the Corporation has sparsely provided solar lamps. But nothing works during night. I request the authorities to see to it that the bushes are removed and solar lamps in working condition are fitted at every junction. This is essential because heavy traffic has been diverted into this road owing to the broadening of the National Highway and roaming of poisonous reptiles. Surprisingly, this RPF Road, it is said, comes under the National Highways. Will the authorities set right things? K.Pandiyan Tiruchi Traffic rules ignoredThe Vestry School Junction is the crossing point for more than three schools. The school entrance gates are opening straight on the main road. Though the automated signal works from 8 am, auto drivers and two-wheelers hardly follow the rules. One can never know when a senseless driver comes in and collides. Traffic police are seldom seen at around 8 a.m. I request the authorities to depute a beat policeman at this junction at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. K.Suresh Babu Vincent Colony Mosquito menaceFollowing the onset of North East monsoon, the corporation area is about to get swamped with mosquitoes. The repellents could not keep them at bay. Will the civic body take urgent steps to solve this problem to prevent mosquito-borne diseases, such as dengue and other viral fevers? C. Ramalingam Woraiyur. Queuing in slushThe residents of Anna Nagar (Navalpattu) make electricity bill payment once in two months at the TNHB office on 5th or 11th. The consumers are forced to stand in queue in slushy area with broken pipe lines and pot holes. People also have to contend with mosquitoes. I also appeal to make the camp collection centre at Anna Nagar customer friendly. D V Ayyer Anna Nagar
