Held for ‘stealing’ from ATM
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: Police arrested two persons — B. Ravi Kumar and Md. Ajmiya — who allegedly took away Rs. 14,47,500 (all Rs. 500 note bundles) from the ICICI Bank ATM at Peddapuram, on Tuesday and recovered Rs. 14.15 lakh from them.
Ravi Kumar, a native of Huzurabad in Karimnagar district is the main accused working as a customer service officer in ICICI Bank at Peddapuram. Md. Ajmiya is his friend belonging to Matlapalli village in Warangal district.
Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy told reporters that Ravi Kumar had admitted to have committed the theft to set up a school in his hometown. The duo opened the ATM with two keys which were in the possession of Ravi Kumar whereas one of the keys should have been with another officer of the bank (the ATM cannot be opened with a single key).
Mr. Nagi Reddy said Ravi Kumar was waiting outside on November 1 while Md. Ajmiya opened the ATM when the lone security guard went for lunch.
