SIVAGANGA: The Alagappa University has granted Rs.25 lakh cash assistance to various faculty members for collaborative research projects under the Alagappa University Research Fund (AURF). The Vice Chancellor, P. Ramasamy, who gave away the assistance at a function held at Karaikudi recently said that it had the corpus fund of Rs.5 crore. The interest generated from the fund was used for promoting funded research activities among the faculties of the University every year. Out of the interest amount of Rs.50 lakh, a sum of Rs.25 lakh was used for funding overseas projects on matching grant from the overseas collaborating research institutions like Queens University of Belfast, United Kingdom, National Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Osaka, Japan, Korea Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea and Korea University, Seoul. The remaining Rs.25 lakh was awarded for research projects to 39 faculty members belonging to different disciplines of the University.
